We’re pairing our patient focused philosophy with advanced technology and an inviting space to deliver next-level care designed just for you. We believe modern endodontic treatment should make you feel comfortable, cared for, and confident in the choices you’re making for your health. After all, we don’t just want to save your smile, we want to give you a reason to use it.

Meet Our Doctor
Dr. Devon Ptak is on a mission to show you that endodontic treatment can be both technically excellent and genuinely human. No compromise required. As a Board-Certified Endodontist and faculty member at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, she brings cutting-edge expertise and her warm, transparent approach to every appointment. She loves both the technical precision of her work and personal moments that make it meaningful: like the slightly lopsided, still-numb smiles that appear after an appointment. Dr. Ptak wants you to feel empowered throughout your entire experience because she isn’t just treating a tooth, she’s caring for you.

Technology
Technology is at the heart of what we do,
helping us deliver care that's both precise and comfortable. We've invested in the most advanced tools available: 3D CBCT imaging for accurate diagnosis, ZEISS operating microscopes for enhanced visibility, Fotona laser technology for superior disinfection, and biocompatible bioceramic sealers that promote natural healing. For patients who need a little extra relaxation, we offer nitrous oxide (laughing gas) and sedation options. Every tool we use serves one purpose: to achieve the best outcomes with the least amount of stress.
- Non-Surgical Endodontics (Root Canals): We offer expert root canal treatment and endodontic retreatment to help save infected or damaged teeth, including complex cases. Using advanced technology and proven techniques, we aim to make the process as comfortable and successful as possible.
- Surgical Endodontics: For complex cases that can't be resolved with conventional treatment, we perform advanced procedures like endodontic microsurgery (apicoectomies) to address persistent issues and give your tooth the best chance of survival.
- Emergency Treatment: If you're experiencing a dental emergency, we offer prompt care to relieve discomfort and address urgent issues like severe pain, swelling, or dental abscesses. We're here when you need us most.
- Traumatic Dental Injuries: Accidents happen. Our team is skilled in managing and treating traumatic injuries including damaged, dislodged, or knocked-out teeth.
- Cracked Teeth: We provide thorough diagnosis and treatment for cracked teeth to prevent further damage and save your natural tooth whenever possible. Using microscopes and advanced imaging, help us better determine the prognosis of these teeth.
- Treatment Planning & Evaluation: Not sure if your tooth can be saved? We provide thorough consultations and second opinions to help you make informed decisions about your dental health. We'll review your case, explain all options, and give you an honest assessment.
- Advanced 3D Imaging (CBCT): We provide state-of-the-art 3D cone beam imaging for precise diagnosis and treatment planning. This technology reveals details that traditional X-rays can't, helping us—and your general dentist—make better treatment decisions.
- Resorption Evaluation and Repair: We diagnose and treat resorption cases to stop the process and preserve your tooth. Early detection is key, and our advanced imaging helps us catch it in time.
- Vital Pulp Therapy: When tooth decay approaches the nerve but hasn't infected it, we can sometimes preserve the living tissue with this conservative treatment—potentially saving you from needing a full root canal.
- Internal Bleaching: We can whiten discolored teeth from the inside out, helping to restore their natural appearance.
- Sedation Options: Your comfort matters. We provide nitrous oxide (laughing gas) and conscious oral sedation options to help you feel relaxed and at ease throughout your treatment.
Dr. Devon Ptak is on a mission to redefine what endodontic treatment can be: clinically exceptional, grounded in science, and genuinely human. As a Board-Certified Endodontist and Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics, a distinction held by only a small percentage of specialists nationwide, she brings the highest level of expertise to every case. But credentials are just the foundation. Dr. Ptak is equally committed to making sure you feel informed, comfortable, and cared for throughout your entire experience.
Born and raised in Michigan, Dr. Ptak earned her Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Neuroscience from Purdue University, a Master of Public Health from Dartmouth College, and her Doctor of Dental Medicine from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. During dental school, she was awarded the Lester P. Goldsmith Endowed Prize Fund in Endodontics and was inducted into the Robert R. Andrews Honor Society in recognition of her outstanding research contributions. She discovered her passion for saving teeth and managing pain during this time, leading her to pursue an additional two-year post-doctoral residency in endodontics at Tufts, where she earned her Certificate in Endodontics.
Dr. Ptak's work has been published in leading peer-reviewed journals, including multiple articles in the Journal of Endodontics, and she has presented her research at conferences nationwide. She currently serves as faculty at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, where she mentors residents and oversees research within the Department of Endodontics.
Beyond her clinical and academic roles, Dr. Ptak is deeply involved in organized dentistry. She is an active member of the American Association of Endodontists and the Massachusetts Dental Society. She serves as a General Board Member of the Massachusetts Association of Endodontics and as the Chair of the East Middlesex District Dental Society. She is also a Fellow of the International College of Dentists. Passionate about growing the next generation of dentists, Dr. Ptak co-founded the Paul Revere Study Club, a collaborative network for young dentists focused on professional development and peer learning.
With her unique background in public health and her commitment to patient-centered care, Dr. Ptak approaches every case with both technical precision and genuine compassion. Her goal is simple: prove that top-tier endodontic care and a comfortable, supportive experience aren't mutually exclusive. You can absolutely have both.
Outside of the office, Dr. Ptak enjoys traveling, playing tennis, spending time with her family and exploring new restaurants with her husband.
